LOCAL: The Texas Department of State Health Services is awarding Terry Hazlett its EMS Administrator Award today in Austin at the Texas EMS conference. The award honors an administrator who has made a positive contribution to EMS and is committed to building a strong team able to respond effectively. Deaf Smith County Hospital Distr  ict CEO Jeff Barnhart cited Hazlett’s identification of Vapotherm Technology to help COVID-19 patients avoid intubation and mechanical ventilation……Funeral services for Margarita Avila, age 55, are at 10:00 today at San Jose Catholic Church……Funeral services for Tony Wilcox, age 58, are today at 2:00 at Frio Baptist Church……Funeral services are pending at Parkside Chapel Funeral Directors for Maria Castruita……Graveside services for Eva McKnight, age 89, are tomorrow at 11:00 at Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado. Eva was a longtime area resident and worked for the Deaf Smith County Sheriff’s Office for many years. She died Saturday in Amarillo……Funeral service for Bonnie Wuerflein, age 84, will be Sunday at 5:00 at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene. Bonnie was a former longtime Hereford resident and educator. She died on Thursday……The Angel Tree for foster children in the area is currently at First Financial Bank.
