LOCAL: Amarillo’s Public Health Department has reported a 25% increase in active COVID-19 cases since two weeks ago. They reported 248 new confirmed cases yesterday and an additional four deaths. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports a Trauma Service Area A COVID-19 hospitalization rate at 11.2%. The Panhandle region has 19 staffed adult ICU beds available, and zero pediatric staffed ICU beds……Deaf Smith County Grand Jurors met yesterday and indicted 15 persons to stand trial on felony charges. Charges ranged from possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams with intent to deliver, DWI with a child and 3rd or more DWI offense……West Texas A&M senior and former Hereford volleyball standout Chandler Vogel was named the Lone Star Conference Libero of the Year for the 4th straight year, the first player in program history to win the same individual award four straight years. Vogel has tallied 2,531 digs during her career for WTAMU. She was also named to the First Team All-Conference……Funeral services for Luz Balderaz Baca, age 68, are tomorrow at 2:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. A Rosary is being held today at 6:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.
