LOCAL: State Senator Kel Seliger announced he will not seek re-election yesterday. Senator Seliger represented Senate District 31 since 2004 and served on many committees, including holding the position of Vice-Chair on the Transportation Committee. He was up for re-election in the 2022 cycle……Amarillo College and Hereford High School are holding two TAFSA sessions today at the Hinkson Memorial Campus in Hereford. The morning session will run from 8:30-10:00, and the afternoon session from 4:00-5:00. TAFSA is a state sponsored financial aid for Texas residents that don’t qualify for the federal financial aid program……Funeral services for Margarito Hernandez Garcia, age 68, are tomorrow at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Margarito was a longtime Hereford resident and mechanic. A viewing is being held this afternoon from 4:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. He died on Sunday in El Paso……Funeral services for Yolanda Turrubiates, age 58, are Tuesday at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Yolanda was a lifelong Hereford resident and worked for many area school districts. She died October 6th in Hereford……The Herd Nightmare tournament is Sunday at 12:30 at John Pitman. The tournament benefits the HHS Golf Teams.
