WEATHER: (June 10, 2021) THURSDAY – High yesterday was 102° at 3:00; this morning’s low was 68° at 7:00. KPANcast: Sunny and very hot. Heat advisory in effect from 1:00-7:00 this afternoon for Deaf Smith County.  

LOCAL: The Texas Department of Public Safety seized around 17 pounds of fentanyl Tuesday near Vega. A DPS Trooper made a traffic stop on a 2016 Honda Civic traveling east on I-40, then a canine unit was called in and alerted on the vehicle. DPS Special Agents and Amarillo Homeland Security Investigations Special Agents were called in to assist and adopted the case for federal prosecution. Alejandro Lopez Jr. and Timothy Osorno, both of California were arrested and transported to Randall County Jail……The Nazareth Swifts baseball season came to an end yesterday when they fell to Fayetteville 4-0. It was the first appearance for the Swifts in the state baseball tournament……Funeral services for Eddie Guerra, age 65, are at 11:00 Saturday at San Jose Catholic Church. There will be a viewing from 1:00-8:00 today, and 9:00-8:00 tomorrow at Parkside Chapel. Eddie was a lifelong Hereford resident and worked for Frito Lay/ADM for 31 years. He died Tuesday……Funeral services for Trudy Brown, age 73, are Monday at 2:00 at Parkside Chapel Funeral Directors.
