WEATHER: (June 2, 2021) WEDNESDAY- High yesterday was 74° at 5:00; this morning’s low was 52° at 7:00. KPANcast: Partly cloudy and warmer. Another chance for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.   

LOCAL: Showers and thunderstorms once again rolled through the area overnight. KPAN recorded .5 of an inch of rain at the downtown studios. Places south and east of Dimmitt received over an inch, .72 inch southeast of Hereford, .41 inch of rain at Dawn, and .24 inch of rain at Vega. One more chance at showers today before a few days of dry weather into the weekend……The West Texas A&M University Lady Buffs took home their second National Championship in DII softball yesterday. The Lady Buffs defeated Biola 4-1 in the finals in Denver yesterday……Funeral services for Teresa Paetzold, age 90, are this morning at 10:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She died Friday in Amarillo……Funeral services for Estela Herrera, age 78, are Friday at 2:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. A viewing will be held tomorrow from 1:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home……Funeral services are pending at Parkside Chapel for Trudy Brown, age 73. Mrs. Brown died yesterday……The Texas Tech Red Raiders will host a regional in Lubbock this weekend for the NCAA baseball post-season. The Red Raiders face Army in Game 1.
