LOCAL: The Hereford UIL Academic Testing team competed at Texas Tech University last weekend in the UIL 4A Regional Tournament. The team took 4th overall. The Social Studies team placed 1st in the region and qualified for state. Kyara Arteaga had a 1st place finish, Yared Avalos with 2nd, Celeste Avarez in 3rd and Nicole Talamantes in 4th. The Current Events team also placed 1st in the region and will advance to state. Rachael Detten finished 1st and Siya Bhakta came in 2nd for the Current Events team……The Hereford Whitefaces finished their regular season yesterday defeating Perryton 9-1 in 4A baseball. The Herd has clinched a bi-district playoff spot……Funeral services for Diane Smith, age 68, are at 10:30 Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church. Diane was a 1971 HHS graduate. She died Monday, April 12th……Great Plains Casa for Kids is holding their 3rd annual burger sale this Friday starting at 11:00 at 313 Lee Avenue. They’re taking pre-orders at 363-1211……Bid on Pound-in-a-Purse this week at First Financial Bank to support the Hereford Pilot Club.
