LOCAL: A wildfire started yesterday in the Ruidoso area sending smoke over Hereford late yesterday afternoon. The latest U.S. Forest Service update currently has the fire at 0% containment and an area of 6,100 acres……A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Deaf Smith County today and a Burn Ban remains in effect for the county……The Lady Whitefaces are in bi-district softball action Thursday. The Lady Herd hosts Big Spring at 4:30 at Lady Whiteface Field. KPAN AM-FM will have live coverage of the game……The Herd is in action against Perryton today for their last district game. First pitch is set for 5:00 at Whiteface Field……Funeral services for Diane Smith, age 68, are Saturday at 10:30 at the First Presbyterian Church. Diane was a 1971 HHS graduate and worked for Hereford Health Clinic from 1999-2006. Diane died April 12th in Hereford……Funeral services are pending for Betty Sue Robinson, age 91, at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Betty Sue was a long-time Hereford resident who died Sunday in Hereford. She was a teacher at Bluebonnet and Tierra Blanca for 31 years……The City of Hereford will test the outdoor warning systems in the city on Friday morning at 9:00……KPAN salutes Sarah Baulch as the Good Neighbor of the Day…….The area’s largest selection of utility beds and toolboxes – Whiteface Customs.
