WEATHER: (January 19, 2023) THURSDAY – High yesterday was 53° at 3:00;
this morning’s low was 18° at 7:00. KPANcast: High near 50° with almost

LOCAL: The 2023 Panhandle Ag Producers Summit is set for this evening at
6:00 at the Hereford Civic Center. The meeting will focus on the
economic outlook, legislative outlook and weather outlook for the
upcoming year. Key-note speakers include Steelee Fishbacher of Tx Wheat
Producers, Laramie Adams who is the National Legislative Director for Tx
Farm Bureau and Mike Gittinger with the National Weather Service office
in Amarillo. U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson is also slated to attend the
meeting. It’s free to Panhandle producers and includes
dinner……Congressman Jackson was recently named to the House Agriculture
Committee, and will play an integral role in drafting the new Farm
Bill……Funeral services for Edwin “Dempsey” Alexander, age 93, are
Saturday at 2:00 at the First Methodist Church of Hereford. Dempsey was
a longtime Hereford resident and was a coach and educator. Viewing is
tomorrow from 12:00-8:00 at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. He died last
Thursday in San Antonio……Winter weather is set to impact at least
portions of the Panhandle this weekend. Cooler temps and a wintry-mix of
precipitation are slated for the Hereford area, while the northwestern
Panhandle could see up to 4 inches of snow. Another winter system will
