LOCAL: Nick Villalovos and Nickilah Whatley took the top honors at the 2022 Athletic Appreciation Day, both winning Athlete of the Year. The Booster Club presented the Fan of the Year Award to Pam and Sparky Stephens. Miranda Acosa, Lanae Blankenship and Noah Brown each received the Casey Smith Memorial Award. Camryn Blair, K’Linda Mason, Bryson Lopez and Hudson Wood were recognized with the Fighting Heart Award……The No. 1 nationally ranked WTAMU men’s track and field program won the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championship, a repeat from last season. The WTAMU women’s program also defended their 1st place finish last season and won the LSC Outdoor Championship……Deaf Smith County Commissioners meet today at 9:00 for a 13-item agenda. They’ll discuss last week’s storm damage and hear a presentation on hail repairs among the items. That meeting is at the courthouse……Funeral services for Baldomero Guerrero, age 89, are tomorrow at 2:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Viewing is today from 4:00-8:00 with a Rosary at 6:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Mr. Guerrero was a longtime Hereford resident and longtime employee at Holly Sugar.
