LOCAL: The World Health Organization reported COVID-19 deaths were up 3% from last week, with more than 55,000 fatalities reported across the globe. Cases rose last week by 10% to nearly 3 million. The uptick is correlated to the highly contagious delta variant which has been recorded in 111 countries……The Hereford Economic Development Corp. meets today in special session at 4:30 at the civic center to discuss a 9-item agenda……The Deaf Smith County Grand Jury met yesterday and indicted 10 persons to stand trial on felony charges. Charges included aggravated sexual assault, indecency with a child and felon in possession of a firearm among others……Funeral services for Jesse Zepeda, Sr., age 72, are today at 2:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Jesse died Sunday in Amrillo……Funeral services for Marie Stringer, age 100, are Saturday at 10:30 at First Baptist Church. Marie was a long-time Hereford resident and school teacher at Aikman Elementary for 20 years. She died July 3rd……Funeral services for Harold Brigance, age 68, are tomorrow at 10:00 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. Harold practiced optometry in Hereford for many years.
