LOCAL: This year’s HISD student registration will be virtual with the online portals opening today. The registration links for both new and returning students can be found at www.herefordisd.net. For persons without computer access, the district is providing computers August 2nd-6th from 8:00-4:30 at the administration building ……The Hereford Economic Development Corporation is meeting in special session Thursday afternoon at 4:30 to discuss a 9-item agenda. That meeting will be at the Hereford Civic Center Executive Board Room…… COVID-19 cases across the country are trending upward. Over the past two weeks cases have surged more than 60% from an average of 12,000 new cases daily to 19,500 new cases. The trend is blamed on the highly contagious delta variant and too many unvaccinated people……The latest US Drought Monitor Map shows 87% of the state is now completely free of drought conditions. Deaf Smith County shows D1 and D0 drought classifications across the western and southwestern portions, with no classification in the northeast sector of the county……Funeral services for Wayne Schumacher, age 65, are Saturday at 10:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
